 | hey everyone so yes the rumors are true. dave has left the band. he was sick of this whole life and would have more fun playing in his own classic metal band. so we respect that. there's no hard feelings what so ever. the fact is dave lost interest a long time ago. not to take any credit away from him, but he really didn't have anything to do with this band creatively for a long time. i wrote all those riffs and played most of them on the albums. so from a creative stand point nothing is going to change with sum41. we will miss dave a lot. and we don't plan on replacing him. we are in the middle of making our greatest record yet. it will definitely be our most exciting and important record we've ever made. and we plan on touring more and longer on this album than we ever have before. this may sound weird but this is the best thing that could have happened to sum41 right now. because in order to make a great record everyone involved has to be excited. and daves excitment was gone after all killer. so don't worry, sum41 is still sum41 and will sound the way we always have. we're just bummed we won't get to share the same stage with dave anymore. see you all soon.

 | we will hire someone that tours live but will not be a member of the band. that person won't be in videos, photos, or have any kind of decision making power in the band. they won't play on the albums. they will just play live with us. we don't know who that person will be yet. we don't need to think about it until the album is done.

 | i can't really describe it yet. the songs still haven't quite taken full form yet. we have a whole bunch of half songs and ideas. all i can say is that i know with out a doubt this will be by far our best album ever. and so far anyone who has heard these ideas is blown away. we're trying to take everything we done and been through and turn into one great meaningful record. and so far we're succeeding. it's still the very beginning stages of the writing process. we're going to take this whole year to put the record together and it will be out in the new year.
i can't wait for you guys to hear it!! |

 | Since Dave left, is it less Metal-influenced, and more like All Killer No Filler, or is that still in there? Because I like the metal-type stuff. |

 | it's hard to answer questions about the style. since it's nowhere close to being finished. but it is a mix of everything we've done before. but we're turning inot something totally new. but not so off course from what we do. the way some people have described it, is classic sum41 but even better. we're taking the best of what we do and making it even greater than it was. |

 | Will you guys still be doing songs like The Bitter End and 88 because they have a distinct metal influence. Do you enjoy writing songs like those and do you plan to continue writing some heavy songs or were those songs more because of Dave? |

I alway's miss you Deryck. I was walking my doggy. Well, don't know if you read my other post, but I will alway's support you guy's & Dave. I think it was a good idea that you guy's aren't replacing Dave & just doing what Green Day does with their extra guitar player. I'm going to miss Dave a lot, but I'm so glad the rest of you guy's are still going on with the band.
Also a big thanks for coming onto this board & giving us all the info & for staying on & answering some of the questions. |

 | Awe that's too bad. I'm really excited to hear that you're going to make the next album more like the older ones.... I loved Chuck but not the kind of album I put on if I wanna dance and sing like crazy, like I did with the others.
Anyways, all the best to you guys. You sound like it's a healthy decision, that's the main reason to make changes. |

 | It's probably for the best that Dave left ( if its what he wants to do then yah) but it's going to suck because he seemed to be the only one who really cared about the fans. I love bands that can still go out after a show and talk to their fans. From my knowledge, Dave was the only one who still did that instead of going to get wasted ( which is fine too but after you meet a few of your fans) I'm not too sure if I would still go to Sum 41 shows without Dave there, it would just be sort of upsetting. The rest of the guys are cool, but Dave understood the fans . For anyone who's ever spoken to him they would realize that too. And I'm sure there's going to be people here saying they met deryck or someone and they were super nice. I've heared enough stories of Deryck being drunk and being an ass to his fans to realize how much he really cares about his fans. Just because he's good looking doesn't mean he can treat his fans like shit. Anyways, thats a little off topic. |

Anyway best of luck to dave and you guys. i also agree with taht one person above, i wanna see a stupid/funny album name lol |

I've meet all 4 of the guy's a bunch of times & hung out with them during show's & not all of them or jerks. There's been a lot of time's Deryck & I have talked at meet & greet's or after show's. He's a nice guy. He's just shy & that's why he doesn't talk much. I haven't been to many Sum 41 show's, but I have been to 9 & at almost all the show's Deryck has come out to greet the fans. You are right about Dave is more understanding about the fan's. He's a down to earth guy & alway's hook's me up at show's getting backstage & stuff. He was the one who could just go out & have confo's with all the fan's & talk to them. Its like he know's what its like to be a fan & that's why he does so much for his fans. The Sum 41 guy's use to party a lot back during the other album's, but since this Chuck album came out they don't seem to party much except for Cone & Steve. They seem to be the one's who stay for the after parties loll. |
